In 2015, Cologne Bonn Airport GmbH commissioned igr with the site management and construction supervision of the rehabilitation of the drainage of sections 1 to 3.

As the airport operator, Cologne Bonn Airport GmbH is legally required to periodically inspect, and if necessary to rehabilitate, the drainage system, in accordance with the self-monitoring ordinance (SüVO) and the ordinance on facilities for handling substances hazardous to water (VAwS).

The rehabilitation work includes the repair, renovation (trenchless construction) and renewal of the drainage elements using open and trenchless construction methods. The sewer network within the investigation areas mainly consists of a rainwater drainage system and to a lesser extent a mixed and dirty water drainage system. This comprises conduits, slot drains, trench drains, pipes and associated manholes, and outlet constructions of various sizes and materials. The nominal diameters of the circular profiles range from DN100 to DN 2200 and from 700/1200 (width/height) to 800/1500 with the rectangular or egg-shaped profiles. The sewage network is up to 10 m deep.
