Trinkwasserversorgung in der Stadt Gotha, Hochbehälter Galberg, Sanierung Rohrkeller

Drinking water supply in the city of Gotha, elevated water reservoir Galberg, rehabilitation of the pipe cellar

The reason for the rehabilitation of the pipe basement in the valve house of the reservoir was material wear and corrosion that was endangering its operational safety. In the course of the rehabilitation, a construction opportunity (a by-pass pipe) needed to be created, so that the container could be taken out of operation (e.g. for essential maintenance) without endangering the safety of supply of the downstream supply network. The pipe basement of the reservoir has existed for more than 40 years; in connection with the rehabilitation of the structural fabric, the existing pipes, consisting of various materials, were removed, and replaced with high quality stainless steel pipes.

Both through the repair of the structural fabric, and also through the replacement of the pipes and the use of new fittings (slide-valves, non-return valves, etc.), the pipe installations were brought up to the latest standards of technology.
