Construction of a Cardiac Unit (building 60a) and extension of the central Accident and Emergency Unit at the University Clinic in Magdeburg

A new Cardiac Unit will be built on the site of the University Clinic in Magdeburg (public-law institution). In addition, the extension of the existing Accident and Emergency (A&E) Unit (building 60a) is planned.

The grounds of the Otto-von-Guericke-University are situated on the Leipziger Straße in the centre of Magdeburg, and, as a collection of buildings of historic importance, are protected as listed buildings. The associated special requirements will be taken into account by igr in the project planning.

As commissioned by the BLSA (Saxony-Anhalt state building and property management agency), igr is planning the engineering structures and traffic facilities for the external technical development, as well as access road positioning for the A&E unit, building 60a, and the Cardiac Unit (building 60c) construction site – always taking note of any updating of the building plans.

As one of the engineering structures, igr is planning an underground passageway between the Cardiac Unit (60c) and the A&E Unit (60a), which is intended for an automatic goods transport system as well as for patient transfer.

In the course of the planning process other locations will be considered, and a multi-disciplinary economic efficiency study will be undertaken.

Planning an accessible infrastructure tunnel

On the site of the Berlin-Tegel Airport (which is still in operation), the entire airport will, following its decommissioning, be reconstructed and redeveloped as a research and industrial park.

On the basis of the Berlin senate‘s master plan and previous conceptual thinking, an accessible infrastructure tunnel (ISK) for the urban supply and disposal utility lines was developed by igr, as an innovative alternative to a traditional buried installation.

Due to the high groundwater levels, the entire structure is planned to use a waterproof concrete construction method and to be equipped with appropriate water pressure-tight joints and pipe openings. To guarantee dry excavation work, an extensive waterproof trench-lining, including related water removal work is planned for the entire construction period.

The ISK is an underground construction, which will accommodate the suppy and disposal pipelines and cables (drinking water, waste water, low-exergy, medium voltage, low voltage, telecommications and information technology). The pipeline systems will be installed with sophisticated brackets and support systems on the anchoring rails of the reinforced concrete prefabricated sections.

In addition to the ISK, the existing sewer will be adapted to accord with current rules and regulations with regard to fire protection. To record the existing sewer, its position and height was surveyed underground by igr.

Bad Homburg v. d. Höhe residential area "Am Hühnerstein"

A new residential area with ca. 200 building plots is being developed on the ca. 11.6 ha site.

The "Am Hühnerstein" site is situated at the southeast edge of the suburb, on the far side of the Vilbeler Straße. The site development plan is being prepared. It should be noted that on this project site the surface water from public paths and roads has to be managed close to the surface via gullies and connecting troughs within public green spaces. The rainwater from private areas and the outside catchment areas will be drained via sewers and fed, together with the rainwater from the public areas, into the local existing drainage channel of the Erlenbach via a flow restrictor.

igr has been commissioned by the town of Bad Homburg to plan and implement the building of the rainwater and waste water sewers. igr has also been commissioned by the Bad Homburg municipal works to plan and implement the building of the water and heating supply pipes.

Within the scope of the engineering construction works, igr is planning a storage sewer immediately in front of the flood-relief structure on the Erlenbach. The proof of low flood risk must be provided for the entire site, and in particular the underground garage sites must be flood-proof.

Wilgartswiesen Hauenstein „Interkommunales Gewerbegebiet, IGK“

A commercial park with ca. 66,500 m² of usable commercial space is being developed on a ca. 11.2 ha topographically highly varied site.

The area of „IKG Wilgartswiesen - Hauenstein“, located north of Hauenstein, is extensively wooded and is bordered along its entire length by a Deutsche Bahn railway line. Between the Hauenstein-Mitte railway station in the east, and the vehicle access point on the road bridge over the B10 in the west, the project area extends to a total length of 850 m.

The site development plan is in preparation. The surface water from the public paths and roads will be managed close to the surface via troughs within open green spaces. Other rainwater will be directed into retention basins via sewers to seep away.

The proof of low flood risk must be provided for the entire site, in particular the business locations must be flood-proof.

In parts of the project area a NATO pipeline is to be relocated. The services to coordinate this are to be provided.

Luštica Bay, Montenegro, Masterplan und Fachplanungen

Master plan and specialist planning for the infrastructure development of a holiday resort, Luštica Bay, Montenegro

On the Luštica peninsular on the Montenegrin coast, the Luštica Development AD company is developing an exclusive holiday resort on a more than 700 ha site near the coastal town of Tivat. 8 hotels, 1,600 apartments, ca. 750 villas, 2 marinas, a conference centre, a 18-hole golf course, and various centres with shopping, gastronomic, and medical facilities, a school and much more will be built. The investor sets great store on the resort being a sustainable development.

igr prepared the master plan for the infrastructure for the first development phase (ca. 440 ha). Detailed specialist designs were also drawn up for the the first development phase (phase 1). This phase included the building of a marina, villas in proximity to the habour, the marina hotel and the 18-hole golf course.
