Industrielle Kanalnetze

Industrial sewer networks

The sewer network of the John Deere properties in Germany is in part over 100 years old. The network was to be recorded and inspected, and a rehabilitation strategy developed. The goal was to have a uniform approach in every plant. The approach might also be adopted in all John Deere plants throughout Europe.

Following the technical surveying of the sewers, they were cleaned and visually inspected. A hydraulic calculation verified the sewer network’s capacity. Building on this, a rehabilitation strategy with costs and priorities was created for each location.

Services provided by igr

  • Current status audit
  • Creation of a sewer register
  • Examination of the condition of the constructions
  • Hydraulic calculation
  • Condition assessment and rehabilitation strategy

Sewer rehabilitation in Saulheim

The impermeability of drainage systems is required for the goals of ‘public health and safety’ and ‘environmental protection’. Building on the sewer rehabilitation strategy and various TV inspections, the Wörrstadt municipal utility company commissioned igr to undertake a detailed planning exercise for sewer rehabilitation. The sewer pipe sections and manholes with damage which required immediate or short term repair were structurally rehabilitated.

Services provided by igr

  • Creation of the rehabilitation strategy
  • Technical rehabilitation planning
  • Tendering and awarding of the contract
  • On-site construction supervision

Key figures

  • 293 rehabilitated sewer pipe sections with a total length of ca. 10.6 km
  • 43 pipe linings with a total length of ca. 1.6 km

Sewer rehabilitation in Wolfstein

The rehabilitation of the existing drainage systems is one of the things required under the water law regulated municipal waste water disposal duty. In order to be able to determine the areas requiring action, the sewers must first be visually inspected. igr undertook the tendering and supervision of the professional work on behalf of the Wolfstein municipality, and subsequently assessed the available films using the ISYBAU system, which is obligatory for federal property.

Services provided by igr

  • Tendering
  • Supervision
  • Assessment using the ISYBAU system
  • Creation of a rehabilitation strategy
  • Creation of a rehabilitation design

Key figures

  • 15 locations
  • ca. 76 km of sewer network

Sewer rehabilitation in the Hugo-John-Straße in the city of Erfurt

In the course of the infrastructure renewal, the mixed water sewage system was to be rehabilitated. The main sewer in the area of a heavily used road, and lying under the water table was leaking, leading to a significant inflow of outside water. The condition of the mainly egg-shaped concrete sewer allowed rehabilitation by means of an inner lining. Along a total length of ca. 1,320 m, the rehabilitation was carried out in phases using expanding examination structures installed for the construction period. Here, the complex water management of up to 220 l/s dry weather flow with a multitude of branch sewers, placed considerable demands on preparation and execution. Through igr, working in close partnership with the client and the responsible authorities, a phased construction strategy (which took account of the section-by-section water management and traffic safety in the 4-lane road) was implemented, alongside the technical rehabilitation strategy. The tender award was made via a restricted tender procedure with a public invitation to tender managed by igr.

Services provided by igr

  • Technical rehabilitation strategy
  • Phased construction strategy
  • Tendering and awarding of tender
  • On-site construction supervision

Key figures

  • Rehabilitation with inner lining ca. 750 m egg profile B 800/1200
  • Rehabilitation with inner lining ca. 290 m egg profile B 700/1050
  • Rehabilitation with inner lining ca. 280 m DN 550 - 600 Stz

  • Vermessung
  • Bestandsdokumentation
  • Bestandsanalyse
  • Bewertung des Straßenzustandes
  • Bereitstellung der Daten für GIS
